A Producer company is a company established for the purpose of producing, harvesting, purchasing, sorting, combining, processing, marketing, selling, exporting, or importing goods or services for the benefit of the member's primary product. Producer companies were introduced into India by the Companies Act 2013. A production company may consist of ten or more producers (people involved in production or cultivation or related activities), two or more production organizations, or a combination of ten or more producers and production organizations. Thus, a producer company is legally recognized cluster of agriculturists/farmers which aims to improve their incomes and the standard of their living. For incorporation of a producer company in India, there are required a minimum of Five Directors and Ten Shareholders/Members. There is no limit kept for the maximum permissible number of members. The procedure for setting up a 50,000 manufacturing company is the same as for setting up a private limited company.
